This week, the Dutch ERTMS program submitted an application for a CEF grant for the retrofit, upgrade or fitment of on board ERTMS BL3 systems. The application is for an impressive number of over 650 rolling stock from ten vehicle owners. The application amounts 41 million euro. ProRail commissions systems supplier Alstom to develop the STM ATBNG (Specific Transmission Module for ATBNG track sections). This module is required for the period that ERTMS equipment uses ATBNG track sections. Read more about ProRail signals start of New Generation STM ATB
The Dutch government has been given the green light by the EU to provide a 22.2 million euro grant for upgrading existing signalling and speed control systems in rail freight engines. Read more about Green light for national grant for upgrading and converting rail freight engines
The introduction of the signalling and speed control system is tied to a number of sizeable tenders. One of which is the tender for the Generic Axle Counter System for ERTMS, abbreviated to GAST-ERTMS in the Netherlands. ProRail and Thales signed the contract on 7 December. The Dutch ERTMS program has announced the opportunity to apply for a grant to retrofit, upgrade or fitment of on board ERTMS BL3 systems. Swift action is wanted though. Deadline for submission of proposals is January 19, 2022. Read more about Current CEF grant possibilities
About 270 kilometres of rail in Groningen and Friesland will be equipped with modern signalling and speed control system ERTMS before 2030. During a work visit to Groningen, state secretary Steven van Weyenberg together with the two Provinces signed the management agreement for this.
